![]() ![]() So I figured with the little left owing on the F22, it made sense to own the car, and mod it from there. I knew I'd be doing coilovers, BBK's, and bushing mods for track use anyway, so if I had jumped to an M2 when I had the chance to, I'd incur $20K in additional costs for the chassis swap (canada pricing is horrid). Yea, the F22 is definitely a 10-15 year car, for me, personally. I'm looking for a "forever" car, and I'm worried that even if I mod the 235 as much as possible, it still won't be that for me. I was leaning in the direction of eventually dropping to 18 inch wheels (either a set of M3 takeoffs or Apex FL-5's) to make the ride more compliant if it turns out to be a bit too rough. I hadn't thought about suspension mods on the M2. the auto is a big part of what I dislike in my 235. My car is my daily and is also our long distance missile. I worry that an M2 might be too harsh to take her on road trips with. Hate downshifting to second unintentionally.Īlso, my wife much prefers riding in the m235i over the fiesta primarily because it is more comfortable, and more supple. Never feel 100% sure of what the car is going to do when diving into a corner or making a quick left turn at a light when in manual if I don't have time to look down and double-check what gear I'm in. Hate having to guess which gear I'm in when driving hard and shifting manually. Wish the exhaust sounded like sport+ mode all the time. Don't love the floaty characteristics of the suspension in traction and comfort modes, and don't love the heavy steering in sport mode for daily driving (traction is my go-to). M235i auto, mods described in the OP - love my car, but definitely feel the lack of an LSD the FR-S and Miata spoiled me. Awful stereo.įiesta ST, manual - fun, but just couldn't love the fwd layout. Scion fr-s manual, stock - loved the feel of the car, just wished it had more power. Mazda protege5 manual, modified suspension - meh. Loved the size.ĩ4 NA Miata manual with last and modified suspension - loved that car, still regret selling it. If I were to put money into it, I would probably go the route of dinan springs + ride kit, LSD, converted m2 exhaust + diffuser, cp, dp, ic, and bm3 flash, more or less in that order.īrain tells me that those mods + the price of my current car = m2 territory, and heart says that it wants instant gratification and is annoyed that it can't test drive an M2. My biggest concerns are the (reportedly) harsher ride and decreased fuel economy (my preferred gas station isn't convenient, and I fill up every 5-6 days as it is).Ĭurrent mods on the m235i are light, just 15mm spacers all round, coding, and a few light cosmetic mods from the previous owner. I can't find one anywhere near me to test drive (I live in the Nashville area and have been looking for months), and am going back and forth between either slowly modding my current car while paying it off aggressively, or just focusing on the pay off and planning to swap out to an M2. I currently drive an auto M235i, and I'm daydreaming of (AKA obsessing over) a manual OG M2, ideally an LCI with a sunroof in LBB. ![]()
